Food Ministry FAQ

What Is Our Food Ministry?

Our Food Ministry is responsible for bringing us together to break bread in faith and fellowship. It is one of the many ways we serve one another and share a meal as the Body of Christ.

How Is Our Food Ministry Structured?

We ask that each individual/family sign up to bring a dish two Sundays of the year, although you are welcome to sign up as often as you would like. 4 individuals/families will sign up for the same Sunday meal. Many hands make light work!

How Many People Should My Dish Feed?

Please plan for your dish to serve roughly 20 people.

What Should I Bring?

The monastery has blessed our parish with their generosity and will continue to provide bread and pastries for the time being. With this in mind, please plan to bring something other than bread or pastries that will help to share in a balanced meal, for example, something savory or a salad. When signing up, please note which dish/item you will bring so that others can plan accordingly. Please also ensure that the dish you bring adheres to the parish fasting guidelines for that particular Sunday. You can find the parish fasting guidelines on the church website for quick reference: www.orthodox-mission.org/calendar.

How Is Clean Up Managed?

On your scheduled Sunday, all who have brought dishes will stay to help with cleanup. Disposable plates, cups, silverware, etc. are all provided, so clean up is expected to be minimal. A short checklist will be posted in the food prep area. Again, many hands make light work!

How Do I Sign Up?

You can sign up for the Sunday of your choice at this link: www.signupgenius.com/go/10C044EABA92AA4F8C16-61822146-sunday

  • Pick the date of your choice.
  • Include your name and what you are bringing.
  • Plan for your dish to adhere to the parish fasting guidelines and feed approximately 20 people.

Thank you for your prayers and support of our parish in this important ministry to feed our flock, both physically and spiritually.

50 Hours of Prayer
50 Hours of Prayer
The 50 Hours of Prayer Ministry is offered twice a year, usually in February and September, and entails three consecutive days of continuous prayer. 23 teams pray Akathists to the Trinity, Christ, the Theotokos, Saints and Prophets. Services are also celebrated in this vigil and include: (3) Orthros/Divine Liturgy, (2) Ninth Hour, (2) Great Vespers, (2) Compline, (2) Midnight Office, an Euchelion which is the making of Holy Oil for healing and a Paraklesis to the Theotokos. At the conclusion of the 50 Hour Prayer Vigil, we have a victory celebration/fellowship with a bar-b-que and music.
